When people look toward the month of February they are hit by  Cupid’s arrow, and visions of heart-shaped candies and red roses dance around in their heads. But how do you celebrate the most romantic day of the year without a Valentine?

Well, look no further than February 13 — also known as “Galentine’s Day.”

This day is dedicated to celebrating your most cherished bonds with all of the friends you love. So if you’re single, taken or just want a reason to do something besides eating a box of chocolates by yourself — which is equally as acceptable — here are some ways you can celebrate the perfect Galentine’s Day.

Galentine’s Day Picnic

Whether you go to the Boston Public Garden to be surrounded by bunches of vivid flowers or your local park, a picnic is one of the many ways you can celebrate Galentine’s Day. So gather your best friends, some of your favorite go-to heart-shaped snacks, candies and desserts, and find the perfect sunny spot to celebrate!

Charcuterie Board Night

You might have seen this viral trend while scrolling through your TikTok feed. It is a delicious — and creative — element to add to your Galentine’s celebration. Each friend creates and brings their own charcuterie board that can be chosen from a variety of themes. Aside from the typical meat and cheese board, this idea calls on a creative twist to this appetizer ranging from s’mores, candy, movie night snacks, and even a Chick-fil-A board filled to the brim with an unlimited amount of waffle fries. So don’t hesitate to add your own unique and festive spin to this flavor-filled occasion.

Binge your favorite Valentine’s movies and TV episodes

When it comes to the Valentine’s season, what better way to spend time with your friends than binging all of your favorite rom-coms, even if the plot is cheesy? Some of my personal favorites include “10 Things I Hate About You,” “The Proposal” and of course “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” But you can never steer away from some of the top-rated classics, especially “When Harry Met Sally.” If sappy endings aren’t your thing, don’t forget to also tune into some of the most heart-filled Valentine’s specials across fan-favorite sitcoms like Friends, New Girl, Gossip Girl and Parks and Recreation.

Paint Night

A paint night with your friends is the perfect way to add a hint of flair and a pop of color to your Galentine’s Day festivities. Head to a Micheal’s, or any local craft store near you, to gather your favorite selection of diy products. With canvases, a variety of paint brushes, and an array of your favorite Valentine’s colors, put your friends to the test and see who can whip up the most beautiful masterpiece. Whether it’s a canvas covered in an assortment of the cheesiest pickup lines you can find, or a portrait of the most colorful conversation hearts, the possibilities are endless!

Drinks Wars: Galentine’s edition

Of course, another TikTok trend has made its way onto the list and it’s the perfect way to bring everyone together to make a toast to love. Whether your friend group is over or under the age of 21, this is the perfect way to spice up your Galentines get-together. Each friend puts their artistry to the test and adds their own special twist to create a signature drink. From “Cupid’s Potion” to a “Love Spell” mocktail, the possibilities are endless. With an assortment of inspiration across social media, especially Pinterest, you can create a medley of delicious drinks sparkling in pink and red to sip on while you celebrate!

Spa Night

If you prefer to spend this festive day with a bit of relaxation and pampering, then a spa night is essential. Make sure to change into the comfiest loungewear you can find and gather all of your favorite self-care products. You can stop by Newbury Street for colorful clay masks from Lush and all the latest skincare products from Sephora as well. Don’t forget to turn on your favorite rom-com, gather your friends — and an assortment of Valentine’s candy — light your favorite scented candles, apply your favorite face masks and let the self-care begin!
