Trick-or-treating and decoration hunting was not over for Suffolk students as Beacon Hill brought the Halloween spirit this October.
Though it may be looked down upon to dress up as your favorite movie character or Disney princess at the young age of 18, the college students at Suffolk kept their youthful spirit alive in the Boston streets of the neighborhood right next-door to campus.
Beacon Hill, notorious for its grand festive decor, celebrated Halloween Oct. 31 as children and adults of all ages filled the streets to take a look at the annually themed houses and snag some candy on their venture there.
A particular house in the brick neighborhood, already known for its photogenic and historic look, goes all-out with a new theme each year. Last year, viewers were brought into the wizarding world of Harry Potter, while this year stormtroopers threw candy off the balcony into the crowd as they projected scenes of Star Wars’s battle scenes, light sabers and all.
The rest of Beacon Hill was also in the holiday spirit, covered in spider webs, skeletons and other spooky decorations.
A few streets over from the intergalactic jump was an under-the-sea-themed block, decked with hanging sea creatures and another projector displaying an underwater fish-tank-like video on a loop.
The only other house that gave the Star Wars and fish tank homes competition for the crown of best dressed was an Alice in Wonderland house with a door covered in a deck of red cards and a window with glowing Cheshire cat eyes that brought Wonderland to Boston.
An alley with orange and purple string lights hung from rooftop to rooftop even invited college kids and other adults in costumes to take from their candy bowls alongside the kids, really bringing the Halloween spirit to all.
Though if lights and spooky decorations weren’t all you were looking for, a home converted into a haunted house was also available for no charge.
Right on the other side of the Massachusetts Statehouse was an invitation for avid or casual Halloween celebrators, with treats and frightful decorations for all.
There is no such thing as being too old to dress up or enjoy some candy in the fall.
