Margaret Glaspy performed at The Roadrunner Sept 30.

Cambridge welcomed Margaret Glaspy to The Sinclair Sept. 30 as she kicked off just the third show of her North American tour. The California-born singer-songwriter performed an electric 20-song set that brought all the energy imaginable.

Glaspy, who is based in New York City, has amassed more than 10 million streams and recently released a full-length studio album “Echo The Diamond” in August 2023.

The small 525-capacity venue in the heart of Harvard Square allowed for an intimate setting and an up-close and personal experience for all those in attendance. As fans entered the venue, the pre-show music and stage lighting set the mood for what was to come.

Down in the general admission area on the floor, there was room to move around but as it got closer to the start of Glaspy’s set, it became a tight squeeze. The vibrancy from the crowd was palpable, even before the show started.

Chicago-based singer, Tasha, performed a 45-minute opening set to warm the audience up. Tasha’s set was acoustic with one supporting band member on stage with her. Almost immediately, Tasha’s comforting vocals captured the attention of the audience who could not look away.

Glaspy began 15 minutes before her originally scheduled start time as she walked onto the stage to sing “I Didn’t Think So,” a song from her latest album. The introduction gave just a taste of what the audience had in store for the remainder of the night.

The show was seemingly broken down into four acts. The electrifying band played on stage for the first eight songs before exiting. Accompanied by just her microphone and guitar, the singer performed a 4-song acoustic set before welcoming the band back out. The acoustic set produced nothing short of beautiful and raw sound that was released through the speakers.

The bass could be felt, the lighting lit up the venue and the stage and people could not look away from the show even for a second. Everybody was on their feet singing along, nodding their heads to the music and cheering.

There were several breaks in the show where Glaspy and her band jammed out on their instruments without her leading vocals. Backed by the incredible stage lighting package, the crowd roared throughout these breaks.

Glaspy’s powerful vocals stunned the crowd who couldn’t help but become animated at several moments throughout the show. More specifically, there were several songs where she held a long note in tune that was an incredible part of her live concert experience.

Leaving the venue, fans could be overheard chatting about how impressed they were at the show. Glaspy and the opening act, Tasha, remained at the merchandise table at the front of the venue for 20 minutes post-show to take photos, sign vinyls and CDs and chat with fans.

The entire concert experience was incredibly memorable and will not be quickly forgotten.
