The Boston Police Department confirmed that there was no foul play in the apparent jumping death from the Sawyer Building Thursday night.
“A preliminary investigation indicates that it was an apparent suicide,” said Boston Police Officer Nicole Grant in a phone interview. She said that the identity of the apparent jumper has not been released.
Suffolk President James McCarthy issued a campus-wide email this morning announcing the death of senior Eric Christo, a finance major in the Sawyer Business School, who was expected to graduate in May.
“All of the Suffolk community sends its deepest condolences to Eric’s family and all those who knew and loved him,” said the statement. “Counseling services are available through the University Counseling Center, which can be reached at 617-573-8226.”
Another statement was released to the public later, similarly expressing sympathy to Christo’s loved ones and adding “We are grateful for the response we received last night from the Boston Police, Boston Fire Department, State Police, Suffolk University Police, Boston Emergency Medical Services, and others.”
