Lady Rams hope to finish season strong

An up and down year for the Suffolk women’s tennis team comes down to the last week of matches. The Lady Rams are 3-6 overall and are ranked sixth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Coming down to the last week, you can expect teams in the middle of the GNAC field to try to make one last push this week to get in better position for the postseason. If you had to define the Lady Rams this year, the word would be “seesaw.”
The women have had many inconsistent matches, due to such different opponents that they have played. After winning two in a row against St. Joseph and Mount Ida, both 8-1, they have lost three consecutive matches. It seems like on average they either win their matches 8-1 or lose 8-1. The team actually lost their first close match against Johnson and Wales (RI) this past weekend, 5-4. The squad will have to be well prepared for the week to come, because the way they play this week can reflect on how they do in the conference tournament.
Two of the three teams that are ahead of the Lady Rams are rival colleges, Simmons and Emerson. Unfortunately Suffolk lost to Emerson 7-2 on Monday.

Senior Kelly Conrad (above) and the Lady Rams are hoping to win their last three matches of the season.

The Lady Rams will play at UMass Boston today, at Endicott College Thursday, and then finish the regular season at Albertus Magnus College on Saturday. Having a three match road trip in a week should come as a challenge for the team, as they have to try to turn this three match losing streak into a final three match winning streak. If there was a time to pull everything together and start playing their best, now would be the time.
