Inhaler brought more than just incredible music to Boston this time around. Their show at Roadrunner Oct.19 left fans eager for more from the Irish band.
In 2023, the indie rock band brought their sophomore album, “Cuts and Bruises” to The House of Blues, Boston and though they have yet to release anything since, they brought a whole new sound to the familiar city.
Their musical talent makes fans eager to start lining up as early as eight in the morning to get a closer look at the four musicians.
The night opened with the southern California group Benches to start the crowd off on a high note and set the scene for the rest of the high-energy night. As fans began filtering into the venue, Benches took the stage and wowed the crowd with their unique instrumentals and impressive vocals. The crowd may have been unfamiliar with their music but it is safe to say that they gained many new fans by the end of their set.
After a short wait and some well-known house music, the lights dimmed and the now completely packed venue erupted in cheers for the lads that were taking the stage. Screams, cheers and whistles took over as the first chords were played. The first song that was played was the first single released for their second record, “These Are The Days” where every person was singing and jumping along to each and every lyric.
That energy bled into the next three upbeat songs that took the crowd by storm. Singer, Elijah Hewson kept the crowd under his control as he sang out two songs from their first album “It Won’t Always Be Like This.”
Early on in the set, the band surprised long-time fans by playing a song from their next album that has yet to be announced. “Your House” is the first single being released for this next era and even with the crowd being clueless about the lyrics or the sound, there was never a lull in energy. The sheer excitement was felt throughout the entire crowd making up for everyone guessing what the next lyric was.
The chorus of the new song is infectious leaving each fan singing along with Hewson as the tune went on. The lyrics rang out, “Oh love, I’m going nowhere you won’t find me / Maybe I sold love for what it’s worth on the street / I said oh oh oh love, there ain’t a sharp enough knife to cut me out of your life / I’m going to your house tonight.”
The excitement didn’t stop there. They played some of the fan favorites like “My King Will Be Kind” and “Dublin in Ecstacy” where the screams from the crowd almost drowned out the music blasting out of the speakers.
Soon enough, they introduced another new song, “Eddie in the Darkness” which shocked every person in the crowd. With the mass amount of people jumping and screaming there was one moment during this song where someone fainted causing the band to halt the song to prioritize the safety of all of the fans in the crowd. With this slight set back, they restarted the song giving everyone in the crowd a second chance to enjoy the unfamiliar song.
After this, the show went on with the same flow of high energy and great music. While the instrumentals speak for themselves, the appreciations for each member do not go unnoticed. Bobby Keating, the bass player, cracked jokes with the crowd and brought up the energy even more. Ryan McMahon, the drummer, brought the percussion to each song with such ease while being the foundation for each song played. Finally Josh Jenkinson, the lead guitarist, took everyones breath away with his perfectly played solos that mesorized each and every person in the crowd.
They finished out their set with the title track from their first record only to return to the stage for two more songs.
“Just to Keep You Satisfied” kicked off the first half of the encore with nothing but creams from the crowd. Each person was jumping and singing along word for word more than happy that they came back to play more.
They finished out the night with one of their first ever singles “My Honest Face” leaving every single person in the venue out of breath and sweating but not wanting the night to ever finish.
Hewson, Keating, McMahon and Jenkinson gave Boston another night they they will not be forgetting anytime soon and will have fans dreaming about until the come back for their next tour.
