Suffolk women’s soccer team lined up for the national anthem ahead of their game vs Fisher College on Sept. 26.

The Suffolk University women’s soccer team triumphed over Fisher College Sept. 26, winning 5-0 at home. The Rams’ record now stands at 6-2-1.

Players that helped lead the team to victory included senior captain Klaudia Rushi, freshman Isa Pereza, junior Jazmya Harris, sophomore Lily Goldmann and junior Charli Adams.

The first two goals were scored in the first half, but the Rams increased their energy and their play in the second half, adding 16 shots on goal as well as three goals.

Head Coach Ellie McDougall spoke to the second half, and how the players that went in helped the level of energy and enthusiasm on the field.

“The thing we talk about is, ‘When you go onto the field, what energy do you give, and can you boost the level of energy and play?’” McDougall said. “So, we had a group of girls that came on in the second half that did that, and I’m really proud of them.”

Junior captain Grace Owens agreed, saying how all the players that were in the second half had a big impact on the spirit of the team.

“I think that’s when we really found a good amount of energy, everyone was really fighting for the ball and that’s when we scored the most,” Owens said.

Among some of the standout players this game includes Lily Goldmann, who scored a goal and an assist during the second half. Goldmann spoke to her performance, saying how she has been working hard this season.

“I feel great about it, it feels really good to see your hard work come to fruition,” Goldmann said.

When asked if there were any standout players that really impacted the outcome of the game, both Owens and Goldmann had the same response: Molly Marshall.

“I feel like she always works so hard and her touches were so amazing tonight,” said Goldmann. “She stood out as a role model and is someone I look up to.”

Owens agreed, saying how Marshall as well as the other goalscorers were all outstanding.

“I think everyone really brought their A Game tonight. It was a really good game for everyone to get a lot of minutes,” Owens said.

In past seasons, the women’s team has remained undefeated against Fisher, but this game was special, as it proved that they were able to score multiple goals in many different ways. McDougall talked about how this victory helped the team, as they have not scored too much against Fisher in the past.

“I think it’s a good confidence boost. Moving forward, that’ll help us know we are capable of doing that and putting up these numbers,” said McDougall. “We’re excited to see what the future holds.”

Before this victory, the Rams had lost to Endicott 3-0, ending their four-game winning streak. Owens talked about how it felt really good to bounce back with a big win.

“It was exciting to see a lot of people get minutes, players get first points, and first goals. It felt really good and it was really positive,” Owens said.

The Rams lost 7-1 against Hartford Sept. 30, but will face off against UMass Boston Oct.3.
