Brighter days are ahead following this weekend’s rain, with this week bringing New England a much-welcomed cooldown and much-anticipated sweater weather.

The National Weather Service and AccuWeather are predicting temperatures in the mid to high 60s for most of the week with cooler evenings in the 50s.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high of about 66 cooling down to near 51 in the evening. Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high of around 68 cooling down to about 52 in the evening. To close out the week, Friday will be bringing cloudier skies with a high near 67 cooling down to roughly 54 in the evening.

If you’re hoping to wear flannels or a sweater this weekend, Saturday will definitely be your preferred day.

The start of our weekend will be mostly sunny with a high near 67 cooling down to 54 in the evening.

Sunday will be the start of a two-day warming and a return to shorts and T-shirts with sunny skies and a high near 73 cooling down to 56 in the evening.

The first Monday in October will feel like a summer day with a high near 77 and low around 62, followed by more seasonal temperatures Tuesday with a high near 70 and a low closer to 60.

Looking ahead to next week, there is a limited chance of rain.
