Brookline man released on charges of trespassing and theft in Ridgeway

SUPD

A 43-year-old Brookline man was released on personal recognizance after being charged with stealing a cell phone in the Ridgeway building, authorities said.

Kerry Jones was found walking around the fourth floor of the Cambridge Street building Monday, according to James Connolly, a captain for the Suffolk University Police Department. Officers arrested Jones, who had no clear reason to be in the building.

Around the same time, a Suffolk employee reported their phone was stolen. Police called the employee’s phone number, and heard ringing in Jones’ pocket, Connolly said.

Jones was arraigned Tuesday in Boston Municipal Court on charges of trespassing and receiving stolen property, according to Jake Wark, a spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley. He was released and ordered to return to court June 2.
