The 34-year-old Boston man who allegedly stabbed two park rangers in Boston Common Tuesday night was held on $1 million cash bail on Wednesday, prosecutors said.
Bodio Hutchinson was also held without bail for warrants sought by probation officers for violating probationary terms imposed on prior convictions, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office.
Hutchinson was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of assault and battery on a public employee, according to Boston police. He was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court Wednesday morning.
Around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Hutchinson allegedly stabbed two park rangers, Conley’s office said in a statement. One 46-year-old ranger was stabbed in the abdomen and suffered a “slashing injury” to his back and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
The other, a 25-year-old ranger, was taken to New England Medical Center with five stab wounds to his back and abdomen, according to the statement.
Both are expected to survive.
Hutchinson fled into the Boston Public Garden where he tossed an item into the lagoon and shouted, “Shoot me! Shoot me!” at police officers chasing him, prosecutors said.
The item Hutchinson threw into the lagoon was later identified as a knife, the statement said.
Hutchinson has previously been convicted of punching a woman and biting a man, and is currently appealing convictions for punching, kicking and biting corrections officers at the Nashua Street Jail, Conley’s office said in the statement.
