The Citizens Bank at 73 Tremont St. building was robbed just hours before the Suffolk building was evacuated due to a gas leak Wednesday, Boston police said.
The robber entered the bank just before 2 p.m. and handed the teller a note. The teller could not read the note, but upon realization it was a robbery, handed the suspect money, police said.
The robber fled the bank in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 175 pounds, police said. He was wearing a black jacket and black winter hat.
The teller also told police the suspect “looked really old” and was not wearing gloves.
No further information was immediately available.
