Linsanity strikes again

Linsanity swept through Toronto last night, as Jeremy Lin led the Knicks to their sixth win in a row, nailing a game winning three pointer with less than a second to go. Lin finished the game with 27 points and 11 assists, marking the sixth game in a row he has scored at least 20 points. Since becoming the Knicks starting main offensive threat, Lin has taken Madison Square Garden and the NBA by storm, averaging 26.8 points and 8.5 assists over the last six games. Before Jeremy Lin took the reins, the Knicks were sitting towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference, with a below-average record of 8-14. Thanks to his superstar turn though, the Knicks are once again relevant and are becoming a serious threat to both the Heat and the Bulls.

Mixed reports surfacing on Tebow/Perry relationship

Just one month after the pop star filed for divorce from Russell Brand, Katy Perry seems to have her sights set on Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. The suggestion for the two to become a couple came from Perry’s mother, Mary Hudson and perhaps began the former Christian singer’s pursuit of the religious Bronco. Perry recently made headlines when she dedicated her pre-Super Bowl performance of her innuendo-filled song “Peacock” to the former Florida player. Tebow has since denied the rumors that the two have began dating, with E! News reporting No. 15 told members of a Los Angeles Boys and Girls club he visited earlier this week. Brand’s former wife told OK! Magazine how much she liked him and finds him to be handsome, charming, intelligent and a good Christian.

Bruins’ Marchand “too drunk” for championship DVD

Boston Bruin fans who were all excited for this past July’s release of the Stanley Cup Champion DVD were probably a little upset not to see fan favorite Brad Marchand interviewed for the project. ESPN Boston recently found the reason for Marchand’s absence during tapings for the production was due to the fact he was too inebriated. The night before the team interviews for the DVD took place, the players celebrated the team’s first Stanley Cup since 1972 at Foxwoods Casinos in Connecticut. Marchand told Sports Illustrated that teammate Tyler Seguin and he “went on a bit of a tear, partying pretty much every night for awhile.” The left wing showed up for the interview after his night at Foxwoods, but was excused because he was too intoxicated.

Wings win NHL-record 21 straight at home

The Red Wings defeated the Dallas Stars 3-1 on Tuesday night for their 21st straight victory, breaking the single-season mark of 20 set by the Boston Bruins in the 1929-30 season and matched by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1976. The longest previous home winning streak was 14 by Boston during the 2008-09 season. Detroit’s run began after a loss to Calgary on November 3. The NHL has never seen so much success at home-ice in one season, and it’s a wonder how longer the Red Wings can continue on their hot streak.
