The Student Government Association announced the results for the 2026-2027 senator and executive board elections March 4. Here are the fall’s incoming SGA leaders:
President: Frank Ezhan
Current SGA Treasurer Frank Ezhan will step into the role of president for the 2026-2027 academic year, winning the presidential election by 212 vote margin against candidate and class of 2028 Senator Fayth Cordeiro.
“I want to say thank you to the Suffolk community for going out and voting, this was the best voter turnout in a while,” said Ezhan.
The 2025-2026 SGA presidential election recorded a total of 609 votes across all three candidates. This year, Ezhan won the majority 610-398 over Cordeiro tallying 1,008 voters across Suffolk’s campus for the top position.
The junior finance major’s campaign goals focused on improving the student experience while he was president.
“Thanks to everyone who put their faith in me and voted for me. For those who didn’t, I respect your decision, and I hope to prove to you over time that you still ended up with the right person for the job,” said Ezhan.
Vice President: Kaylee Sanchez
Class of 2028 Senator Kaylee Sanchez will sit next to Ezhan as SGA’s vice president after receiving a tally of 561-305 over candidate and Academics Committee Chair and class of 2028 Senator Eliza Bryant.
“I want to thank everyone for their support and motivation. I’m so grateful for my team and friends who helped me along the way. I wouldn’t be able to do this without all of them,” said Sanchez. “It was so amazing to see that people were excited to be involved in the SGA election process and were willing to elect leaders who will represent them passionately.”
Sanchez plans to take her experience from participating in SGA’s judicial review board and looking back on the work done by mentor and former Vice President Grace Kane’s as the steps into the position.
“I can’t wait to embark on this journey and to work with this wonderful team,” said Sanchez. “Let’s get to work.”
Secretary: Joyce Lukelo
Class of 2029 Senator Joyce Lukelo passed opposing candidate and senator-at-large Khadijah Muhktar by 501-333 votes, bringing a younger voice and perspective to the e-board.
“I am incredibly grateful to have won. It was a tough journey, and it took a lot of work. I am incredibly appreciative of all those who helped me along the way, those who supported, and of course those who voted,” said Lukelo. “I have so many plans and I cannot wait to get started working with my amazing e-board.”
Treasurer: Brendan Eddy
With the only three person e-board election race, class of 2027 Senator Brendan Eddy took the prize of SGA treasurer home with 543 votes over sophomores Athletics Committee Co-Chair and class of 2028 Senator Tighe Hosman’s 154 votes and senator-at-large Gordon Ruan’s 118 votes.
“Thank you to everyone who’s supported me throughout the past three years, the relationships I fostered throughout that time undoubtedly helped me get to this position. Thank you to everyone who didn’t know me and still chose to support based on my campaign. Lastly, thank you to anyone who has been with me on my faith journey and helped me to trust in God’s plan,” said Eddy. “I cannot wait to get started and am so excited to work with everyone next year in and out of SGA.”
