The Brighton Bazaar opened its first market of the year and its first-ever “cozy convention” over the weekend. The Snug Life event was open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 17-18, hosting a plethora of different artists and vendors at the Charles River Speedway.
The event welcomed creatives from all over to share their art with attendees. The event was heavily centered around warm wares, with many vendors selling sweaters, coats and blankets. High Energy Vintage was one of the biggest sellers for these winter wares over the weekend.
The store, located on 492 Somerville Ave., sells retro and vintage finds which include clothing, shoes, music, board games, trinkets, jewelry and the list goes on. At the Snug Life weekend, they had their own separate room as they really tried to encapsulate the theme of the event through what they sold.
But it wasn’t only sweaters that High Energy Vintage were selling in their area. There was also a collection of vintage games, music, books, hats, blankets and bags from their store as well.
However, warm woolen sweaters weren’t the only thing for attendees to buy at the event. People also have a chance to buy original art and creations all around the event. There was something for everyone at the event.
Each vendor was completely different from the others, all selling creations that were uniquely their own. From hand jewelry to print illustrations to handmade yarn to live portraits, the Snug Life really had it all.
Many vendors spoke about how these events with the Brighton Bazaar really allow their work to get out there. Many cited the event as a big draw for customers eager to find art and support smaller businesses, as it allows them to do so at one big event. Among that, many vendors said that these events with the Bazaar often have returning customers, bringing them a regular audience to share their work with.
Outside of the items being sold at the Snug Life, they also gave everyone the chance to fill up and warm up with some food stands.
The SnackBox food truck was out providing hot chocolate to attendees. You could not turn a corner without somebody holding one of their hot chocolates to warm up while browsing through the different stands.
Although the Snug Life is over, the Brighton Bazaar continually hosts several conventions throughout the year, each with its own spin.
Their next upcoming event is the “Dead of Winter,” being hosted once again at the Charles River Speedway, Jan. 24-25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. While the event doesn’t promise the same vendors, it guarantees a good time for anyone, no matter the theme.
