Boston is officially in the season of fall, and Suffolk University students now have the opportunity to go pick apples and pumpkins as they enjoy the weather.

In Massachusetts, there are many places within driving or commuting distance of Boston that students can visit to take part in everything fall has to offer. Apple and pumpkin picking operates now until late October.  

Allandale Farm in Brookline

Price: $$

Admission Price: N/A

Hours: Mon. to Sun. / 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Offers: Freshly picked apples and pumpkins are available for purchase, but picking is unavailable. They also offer hayrides.

 

Smoklak Farms in North Andover

Price: $

Admission Price: Fruit & berry-picking tours. $14 / child with one free adult per group. 

Hours: Mon. to Sun. / 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Offers: Berry, pumpkin and apple picking. Students that participate in Suffolk’s Home Away From Home program will have the opportunity to go to this venue on Oct. 9.

 

Boston Hill Farm in North Andover

Price: $$$ 

Admission Price: N/A

Hours: Mon. to Sun. / 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Offers: Unfortunately, berry picking is in Summer only, but peach, pumpkin and apple picking are available now. 

 

Belkin Family Lookout Farm in South Natick

Price: $$$$

Admission Price: Walk-in weekend pricing: half peck bag $24, whole peck bag $29.

​Walk-in weekday pricing: half peck bag $20, whole peck bag $29.

Hours: Mon. to Sun. / 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Offers: Peach, pear and apple picking.

 

Shelburne Farm in Stow

Price: N/A

Admission Price: 10 lbs of apples $29, pears $5.29 by the pound. There are a variety of apples.

Hours: Mon. to Sun. / 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Offers: Apple and pumpkin picking, farm animals, hayrides and food trucks. 

 

Parlee Farm in Tyngsborough

Price: $

Admission Price: N/A.

Hours: Tues. to Sun. / 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Offers: Apple picking, pumpkin picking and farm animals. They also have berry, flower and peach picking in the summer.

 

Hanson Farm in Framingham

Price: $

Admission Price: N/A

Hours: Mon. to Sun. / 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Offers: Pumpkin picking & horse rides. There is a corn maze and a haunted hayride available in the fall as well as berry and flower picking in the summer.

 

Nihtila Farm in Holbrook

Price: $

Admission Price: N/A

Hours: Fri. to Sun. / 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Offers: Pumpkin picking and hayrides.

 

Tougas Farm in Northborough

Price: N/A

Admission Price: A 10-pound peck bag, admits up to three people into the orchard for $33. A 20 pound 1/2 bushel bag admits up to five people into the orchard for $46. Admission includes access to the barnyard animals, a playground, a picnic area and wagon rides, when available.

Hours: Tues. – Sun. / 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Offers: Pumpkin and apple picking. They also have goats for petting and feeding.

 

Students can experience the joy and beauty of fall in Boston. Fruit picking can be a fun and relaxing activity. Take a break from homework and go enjoy the season with friends!
