Last Wednesday, a general strike was called for the entirety of Spain in response to the government’s choice of action on the current economic situation. Students and merchants all across Spain marched in protest. In Madrid, a large demonstration took place in Sol, an urbanized area of the city where there are several local businesses and retail stores.  Protests lasted all day throughout the city.
