College students throughout the city want to know the new hot spot in their neighborhood or be in the know when it comes to an up-and-coming scene in Boston. Fenway has been tried and true for students, Red Sox fans, and families that have been visiting Boston for years, but there is one place in particular that is brightening up the neighborhood and making a name for themselves before the baseball season starts. The Fenway Cantina is a brand new Tex-Mex restaurant/bar that is bursting with potential and reining in the foot-traffic around the Fens. Filling a much need niche, the Mexican-themed menu offers options for everyone at unbelievable prices. Burrito plates, Carne Asada, Chorizo-stuffed Chile Releno all with rice, your choice of black or refried beans, and a choice of three different sauces are just one of the options available. Nothing is more than $14, and with all of the burrito, taco, and enchilada plates hovering at $8, the Cantina is a win for those on a budget. Every guest is greeted warmly with complimentary tortilla chips and salsa made fresh throughout the day.
For those old enough to imbibe, The Fenway Cantina has a staggering 20 beers on tap and nearly 40 bottles that are as common as Sam Seasonal to exotic as Negro Modelo (imported Mexican beer). If beer isn’t really your thing the margaritas, martinis, and the Burro Borracho (their version of a scorpion bowl) offers something for everyone. The pool table and hand shuffle board bring in a steady crowd on weeknights, and the chill atmosphere keeps weekends interesting.
Head over to 1260 Boylston St. any day of the week for a new hangout that is sure to become an old favorite.
