The Suffolk women’s soccer team is making a final push at the end of their season, as the team is 5-0-1 in their last six games. Their strong offense seems to be unstoppable right now, and one of many players to thank is Suffolk senior Lauren Cameron.

Cameron has only started in two games this season, and is second on the team with six goals scored.  She is one of the most dangerous weapons off the bench in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Cameron is quite the athlete, as this is her first season on the women’s soccer team. She had previously played on the tennis team for three years but decided to change it up and play soccer this season. She was a star tennis player, as she won the GNAC Rookie of the Year in 2008, and finished 2009 with a perfect 10-0 record in singles play and was named a First-Team All-Conference Selection by the GNAC.
Cameron was born in Kingston, Jamaica, where she started playing soccer at the age of six. She attended Kent School in Connecticut before coming to Suffolk University, where she is majoring in marketing and minoring in event planning and promotions.

As a forward on the squad, Cameron has obviously developed into a strong soccer player, and said her strong points are, “being an aggressive attacking forward and a great supporter to my other forward teammates.”
When asked what her weakness was, she said with a laugh, “That will be a mystery, a true winner never tells the opponent his or her weaknesses.”
Cameron has enjoyed playing for Coach Ernst Cleophat, who has been a huge influence on her this season.
“Coach Cleophat, I must say is one of best coaches I’ve ever played for,” said Cameron. “He is very passionate about the game of soccer and is very knowledgeable of the game being a past player.”
“His guidance and words of wisdom is unquestionable and the records for the past years of the soccer program at Suffolk will reflect such success,” she continued.
Cameron is strong physically and mentally, and she is quite the confident character, but with a lot of pride in her and her team.
“We are a team and we work together as a unit to be successful,” she said.
Cameron hopes to successfully have an established event services company before she graduates next May 2012. She also hopes “to continue taking over the nightlife scene of Boston.”
