The Athletics Hall of Fame class at Suffolk is relatively new—this is only the third go-round—but come this May 7, the athletics department will be inducting seven more individuals during a dinner at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge. According to the school’s website, the Suffolk University Athletics Department and the University Alumni Association will be honoring these individuals who played an important role during their time with the school.
The inductees include Patricia Brown, Ron Cinelli, Evan Crockford, Noreen McBride (Keenan), Patti Ann Stanziani (Cooper), Lou Connelly (Posthumously), Ucal McKenzie (Posthumously) and the 1996 Women’s Softball Team.
A few notables include Brown, who founded, coached and played for the first women’s basketball team here at Suffolk in the early 1950s. Crockford had 116 points during his four-year tenure on the team, which is good for fourth all-time in the school’s history. McBride was an exceptional athlete while at the school, playing in four sports over three seasons during her time at the school.
The reception will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a dinner and the ceremony at 7 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person and $40 for alumni 2006-2010.
