Lady Rams set to come out swinging

Article by: Mike Giannattasio

The Suffolk University women’s softball team is looking to continue the success they’ve had in recent years. They finished last year with a 22-18 record, good for a third-place finish in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

The Lady Rams only have one new freshman on the team this year and the rest of the players are second, third and fourth year players.

The team has been working hard all offseason in preparation for their games. The Lady Rams get the pleasure of opening up their season in Orange, Calif. on March 12 and play a week of games there before returning home on March 18.

The Lady Rams will undoubtedly have high goals for themselves again this season. The team will be seeking to improve on last year’s win total, with the ultimate goal of getting a GNAC tournament berth and being one of the best teams in the conference by season’s end.

Keri Lemasters is entering her third year as head softball coach at Suffolk University. Under her guidance, the Lady Rams have steadily improved their record in each of her previous two seasons.

Lemasters, who is also Suffolk’s Associate Athletic Director, Suffolk’s Senior Woman Administrator and assistant volleyball coach among other duties, has a career record at the collegiate level of 39-38.  She has taken her team to postseason play every year that she has coached.

The Lady Rams open their season in California on March 12, and don’t play their first home game until March 20, a doubleheader vs. St. Joseph’s (Conn.).
