Top Ten Things to Do in Boston

Hello lovely readers! As your may have noticed walking to and from class, it’s finally nice out! That’s right, Spring has finally arrived in Boston. That means you can ditch your heavy winter jackets, and finally go out and enjoy all that Boston has to offer. We thought we could be of some help to you, and so in no particular order, here is a list of the top ten things you can do in Boston this spring!

1.)go to the Public Garden & Boston Common:

Located right near Suffolk University, the Common and the Public Garden are two great places to go. Whether you want to ride one of the swan boats in the Public Garden, catch up on some homework while relaxing on the Common or just hang out with friends, these are two places you should definitely check out this spring.

2.)Go visit the Arnold Arboretum:

Open sunrise to sunset, the Arboretum is a great place to visit. It is free to the public, and also features a visitors center and an art gallery. You can either take a guided tour through the Arboretum, or go on your own pace and see all it has to offer. Located off of the Orange Line, this take a little planning to get to, but it’s definitely worth the effort to go see.

3.)Check out Revere Beach:

Right off the Blue Line, Revere Beach is a great place to check out this spring. While you may not want to go swimming, you can definitely take a walk on the shore, and maybe even check out the famous Kelly’s Roast Beef.

4.)Walk the Freedom Trail:

You see it every day walking to class, but have you ever spent the time actually walking it? Well now that it’s finally nice out, why not spend a day doing so? You can learn so much of the history of Boston by walking it, and you can see everything from Paul Revere’s House, to the U.S.S Constitution.

5.)Marathon Monday:

One of Boston’s favorite holiday’s is Marathon Monday. A city wide celebration of the Boston Marathon, head on down to Boylston street to check out the world famous marathon with all your friends. You definitely want to get there early, as the Marathon is one of the most popular events in the city.

6.) Take a Duck Boat tour:

You see them every day walking to class, but have you ever actually been in one? Well why not try tour the city in style this spring! Leaving from three locations (The Prudential, the Aquarium, and the Science Museum) the Duck Boats are a fun way to tour the city, and they even have reduced prices for students. Why not spend a day and go for a ride?

7.)Have a picnic:

Who doesn’t love a picnic? There are so many places you could have one: on the Common, along the Charles, really anywhere where this is grass and a nice view. As the weather starts to get nicer out this is a great thing to do with a group of friends.

8.)Visit a Museum/The Boston Public Library:

There are so many fantastic museums to visit in Boston. Why not take the time to check out the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the M.F.A, The Museum of Science, or even the Children’s Museum? Many of these places have specials deals sometimes for college students, making it more affordable for you to go them! You can also check out the historic Boston Public Library. Why not take some time to have lunch in their outdoor courtyard and enjoy the warm weather, or check out a new book you’ve never read before?

9.)Visit the Franklin Park Zoo:

Who doesn’t love going to the zoo? Located right in Boston, the Franklin Park Zoo is one of the city’s hidden treasures. Featuring everything from Chinchillas to Tigers, the zoo has something for everyone. Located off of the Orange/Red Line and now featuring longer summer hours, why not get together with friends and spend the day at the zoo?

10.) Fenway park:

Last but certainly not least, Fenway Park is definitely a place to check out this Spring if you haven’t already. Whether it’s taking a guided tour of the historic park, or catching a game there (Opening Day is less than two weeks away!), Fenway Park is definitely a place any college student in Boston should visit at least once.
