Monday 12/1

5:30 pm- 7 pm: Monday Night Oasis Supper Club- Help serve meals at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul to those in need. Meet at the S.O.U.L.S. Center, Donahue 209, at 4:45 pm. This is a weekly opportunity limited to the first 5 volunteers who R.S.V.P. through SUconnect (D209)

 

Tuesday 12/2

1 pm- 2 pm: RA/CA Info Session for International Students-The Residence Life office will partner with CIPS to provide information to International Students who are interested in becoming a RA/CA. (6th floor of 73)

1 pm- 2 pm: Musician’s Network Open Meeting- Are you a musician at Suffolk? Come meet other musicians at the Open Meeting! Find out about the upcoming Karaoke night and other opportunities to perform (D219)

5 pm- 8 pm: Program Council Relaxation Evening- A time for Suffolk University students to come and relieve their stress with a variety of activities (D403)

6 pm- 8:30 pm: World HIV/AIDS Day Film Screening: The Normal Heart- The story of the onset of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s, taking an unflinching look at the nation’s sexual politics as gay activists and their allies in the medical community fight to expose the truth about the burgeoning epidemic to a city and nation in denial. (D311)

 

Wednesday 12/3

1 pm- 2:15 pm: Women & Power Series: Posters & Pizza- Join students in honors English H523A: The Court, Cult, & Culture of Elizabeth I for “Posters and Pizza” Students will be sharing their research and creative projects on Queen Elizabeth I and the Elizabethan age. This will be the final event in a series of presentations about women in society’s most powerful leadership roles—queens, CEOs, and political leaders. (Large Conference Room, 8th floor, 73)

7 pm- 9 pm: Performing Arts Office Winter Concert- The Performing Arts Office Winter Concert features all thirteen PAO performing groups sharing a sneak peak at what they have been working on this semester. From sketch comedy to hip hop dance to a cappella, this show has it all. A great introduction to the Performing Arts at Suffolk, a chance to catch up with your favorite groups, or discover a new one! Free! (C. Walsh Theatre)

Thursday 12/4

1 pm- 2 pm: Festival of Lights-  Please join us at 1:00 pm in Temple Street Park (across from the Donahue Building) for a multicultural and interfaith celebration of the season featuring Suffolk University’s Rhythm! Reception follows in the Donahue Lobby.

1 pm- 3 pm: Film: Lady Valor- Join us for a screening of the CNN Film, “Lady Valor: The Kristin Beck Story,” followed by a Q&A with Kristin Beck. Kristin Beck is known to be the first transgender US Navy SEAL. She distinguished herself with 20 years of exceptionally meritorious service as Christopher Beck. In 2013, Kristin announced to the world that she was a woman. She is a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Suffolk University this December. (Stahl Center)

2 pm- 3 pm: Chanukah Party- Join the Interfaith Center and Suffolk Hillel for a Chanukah party sponsored by the Off Campus Housing Office. There will be Chanukah treats and prizes given out by the Commuter Ambassador program! (D403)

5 pm- 7 pm: Karl Stevens + Raul Gonzalez Two Artists and Their Books: The Lodger and Lowriders in Space Reception and Book signing- This exhibition focuses on each of the artist’s published books. They both straddle a range of influences – illustration, graffiti, comic books, as well as nods to the history of painting.  Stevens and Gonzalez will present original drawings and paintings from their respective books.  This is an exciting opportunity to peer behind the text, and experience the work of these two extraordinary Boston artists. (NESAD)

5:30- 9 pm: Peter Caputo Book Launch- Join the English department in celebrating late English professor Peter Caputo’s book Saint Medusa, which is to be published by Pen and Anvil Press. (Stahl Center)

6:30-8 pm: Ford Hall Forum presents: Warrior Princess- Featuring Kristin Beck (author, Warrior Princess: A U.S. Navy SEAL’s Journey to Coming Out Transgender) and moderated by Elif Armbruster (Associate Professor of English, Suffolk University) As a 20-year veteran Navy SEAL, Christopher Beck was hailed as a hero, serving on thirteen deployments and ultimately earning a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. But Chris’s biggest battle was coming to terms with the fact that she was really a woman. Now known as Kristin, Beck opens up about her life in a field of masculinity while struggling to acknowledge and accept her true gender. Suffolk English Professor Elif Armbruster helps Beck present her true story, a profile of finding the courage to be herself. Co-Presented by the CAS Dean’s Office, the Seminar for Freshmen Program, and the Ford Hall Forum (C. Walsh)

7 pm- 8 pm: Musicians Network Karaoke Night- Finals can be stressful, so come de-stress with us and rock out to some karaoke! We’ll have plenty of fun song options and free food. Come to watch or participate. Thursday December 4 at 7pm in the basement of 150 Tremont.

10 pm- 11 pm: Seriously Bent Weekly Dorm Show- Come and get your laugh on at the always hilarious Seriously Bent weekly dorm shows! Seriously Bent performs every Thursday in the basement of 150 Tremont at 10pm. They are always switching up their improv shows, so there will always be something new and exciting. Make sure to check it out: laughter guaranteed!

 

Friday 12/5

Last day of all NESAD classes and Reading Day for all CAS and SBS students! Enjoy the day off and good luck studying for your finals!
