2010 Festival Forecast: Lillith

This year begins the return of one of the largest touring festivals in the country, Lillith Fair. The festival is a huge feminist event, including only female acts such as Sarah McLaughlin and Sheryl Crow. The tour is set to hit Boston, with no date or venue announced yet. The artists announced so far this year have kept to the whole “fem-rock” formula started in the 1990s. The bands include returners such as McLaughlin and Crow, as well as newer acts such as Tegan and Sara, Metric, and Cat Power.

Co-founder Terry McBride told MTV News, “The 2010 Lilith Tour isn’t just a celebration of women in music, but a celebration of diverse female voices across all genres. The original Lilith Fair broke down boundaries, and the new tour promises to do the same, with a mix of contemporary and classic, established and up-and-coming artists from the worlds of pop, rock, urban, country and more.”

Other acts include Ke$ha, La Roux, Sia, Marina and the Diamonds, and Mary J. Blige.

Lillith Fair is touring across the country later this year, while dates have not been set in stone yet, cities to be visited have been announced on their website.
