It’s fall, the leaves are changing color, birds are flying south for the winter, and most importantly it’s audition season! That’s right it’s time to audition for all of the awesome and very talented student groups we have here at Suffolk University. Auditions are going to be taking place on campus over the next few weeks and we’ve prepared this handy little guide to let you know when and where they will be! If you haven’t signed up yet you can do so outside of the Performing Arts Office (Donahue 409), so don’t miss your chance!
Group: Ramifications
When: 9/16 (1:00 PM-2:00 PM), 9/20, 9/21 (2:00 PM)
Where: Donahue Building
What you need: Prepare a song, and be prepared to sing with the group
NOTE: The auditions originally schedule for Thursday the 18h will now be held on Tuesday the 16th. Same time, same place.
Group: Rampage Show Choir
When: Vocal Auditions: 9/17 (5:00 PM-7:00 PM) 9/21 (12:00 PM-5:00 PM)
Dance Auditions: 9/21 (4:00 PM-5:30 PM)
Where: Donahue Building
What you need: Prepare a short segment of a song (under 1 min) that shows your vocal range. Be prepared to dance, and bring appropriate clothing and footwear (no chunky shoes or flip flops) Helpful tips: they are looking for performers with the ability to portray
the emotion of a song and energy!
Group: Step Team
When: Open Workshop: 9/18 (5:30 PM-7:30 PM)
Auditions: 9/23, 9/24, 9/25 (5:30 PM-7:30 PM)
Where: Donahue Building
What you need: Wear appropriate clothing and shoes to step in.
Group: Rhythm
When: 9/18 (7:00 PM-9:00 PM)
Where: Donahue Building
What you need: Bring your instrument (bass,guitar, trumpet etc). Amps, mics,
keyboard and drum set will be provided. Prepare two songs from 2 different genres (ex: rock and pop).Instrumentalists will be asked to jam, vocal audition is acapella and will do scales and pitch matching.
Group: W!cked
When: 9/18 (7:30 PM-10:00 PM)
Where: Ridgeway Building, Regan Gymnasium
What you need: Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Bring your student ID, water/gatorade. At the audition, will stretch, learn choreography, ask questions
and perform the piece you learned. Optional: There will be a “free-style” section for you to dance to any song to showcase your own style of dance if you want to prepare but not required.
Group: Dance Company (SUDC)
When: 9/21 (6:00 PM-9:00 PM)
Where: Ridgeway Building, Regan Gymnasium
What you need: Clothes you can dance in so judges can see your
lines. For footwear, parts will be taught in bare foot (foot undies are fine).Jazz shoes and sneakers if available. What to bring: water and sweatshirt/pants/warm-up.
Audition Format: registration, warm-up,technical drills across the floor combinations, 2-3 combinations of different styles, Q&A and optional prepared solo.
Group: Jazz Ensemble
When: 9/22, 9/29 (7:00 PM-9:00 PM)
Where: Donahue Building
What you need: please prepare a song to play, and you will be asked to sight read.
Group: Seriously Bent
When: 9/23. 9/25 (1:00 PM-2:00 PM)
Where: Sawyer Building
What you need: be prepared for basic improv warm ups, exercises and to be on your toes.
Group: Sketchual Misconduct
When: 9/23. 9/25 (1:00 PM-2:00 PM)
Where: Donahue Building
What you need: Prepare a 1-2 minute original comedy piece
(stand-up, monologue, character). You may be asked to show other characters/impressions you can do. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before schedule time slot and bring your class/work schedule.
