Drag shows: a wild, hilarious, sometimes raunchy, and entertaining time. They are most certainly not for everyone, some are uncomfortable at them, and that is all right. If you don’t feel comfortable at them, simply don’t attend. I wouldn’t attend a country music concert, as I am not a fan.The drag show involves transvestites dancing, singing and interacting with the crowd on stage. They are performers, they are there to put on a show, to entertain. They are artists who enjoy what they do.
Tonight there were four beautiful women who performed songs courtesy of Suffolk PAO and Rainbow Alliance. One was even a Suffolk alum, Marc Picariello. A big part of the show is audience interaction, tonight that included: caressing, lap dances, hair twirling, motor boating and a lot of gyrating. One lucky audience member, Chris Thayer, was given 8 lap dances…and I think a phone number.
It’s an environment that encourages you to be comfortable with who you are and you really have to be in order to enjoy it. I encourage everyone to experience a drag show because they embrace diversity, sexuality, and just being yourself.
