Anathema rocks the Middle East

It’s not every day you get a chance to meet with a musician as seasoned as Vincent Cavanagh, lead guitarist and vocalist for Anathema. Playing with Anathema since the early 1980s, he has had the chance to develop his sound and focus his life experiences into producing a lyrical chronology truly representative of his hardships and triumphs.

When asked if he would trade all his hardships for a happier childhood he responded “on one hand, yes so my parents don’t have to suffer. But on the other I learned valuable lessons from that, valuable life lessons that made me who I am and influenced my music.” It is from this rawness he experienced that he was able to craft his art.

When he starts a song it always begins with the lyrics, a far cry from todays beat-oriented “musicians” who work to develop a sound but no emotion. Their sound is clean and their performance heart felt and energetic. The audience exploded in cheers when they took the stage.
