Secret to the Perfect 4th!

Here’s the dealio.

For those who want to experience a Boston 4th of July at the Hatch Shell, I have the inside info. Follow my instructions and you won’t be stuck trying to get a front row spot in the oval at 6am.

July 3rd.
Yes, I mean the 3rd. There is something you don’t know, there is a rehearsal. A free rehearsal open to the public. If you really want to go to the shell to see the performances, do it on the 3rd. The show starts at 7:30, but you should get in line at about 5:30. Bring a blanket, food, if it’s allowed this year, and a chair and when the gates open at around 6:00 you make your way, easily, to the front.

Why do it? Why not wait until the next day?
GREAT QUESTION! Well if you want to see the fireworks, AND the performance from the oval…YOU CAN’T
The trees block the view of the fireworks.

July 4th.
Get there whatever time you want. Don’t walk to the oval, avoid that area 100%. Go past Dartmouth Ave and and cross the bridge over to the river. Take a left and set yourself up in front of a big screen. THERE ARE BIG SCREENS, you’ve already seen the show, but now you can watch it again AND see the fireworks.

Wear sunscreen, bring food, bring money, bring a blanket, friends, AND SOMETHING TO DO WHILE YOU WAIT.

It’s a great time, you’ll make friends with the people you sit next to, and addictingly go back every year.

You’re welcome 😉

OH, and bring roller skates or something, they shut down Storrow Drive so you can play on it.
