BLOG: Why I’m Glad Today Wasn’t “It”

Did anybody actually believe today was going to be the end of the world?

(I hope none of you were that stupid.)

There are so many reasons I’m happy it wasn’t. We have so much to look forward to.

Next semester, we’ve got a lot of incredible events. Extreme laughs at the annual “Eat My Improv” show in January. Sketchual Misconduct taking a giant leap and performing at Improv Boston in the beginning of February. The PAO presentingĀ Avenue Q, the Theatre Department’s Spring Showcase andĀ The Crucible.

Also, 2013 has some awesome movies lined up. Great Gatsby, sure. The new Superman, maybe. But Monsters University?! You better not kill me before the next Pixar installment comes out.

And…on a more personal level. I’ve worked pretty hard to get to where I am. Paying for college is not easy, nor is keeping a high GPA to hold all of your scholarships when losing them would mean possibly dropping out. I’ve met some people who have changed my life in such a short period of time, and I’m not done learning from them yet. My life is headed in far too exciting of a place for me to be okay with it all disappearing because of some old Mayan ‘prediction’.

I’m glad some century-old mythical apocalypse didn’t come true, because if it did, all of this planning would have been pretty useless.
