Outside the Box

Outside the Box: A song that finally broke the heat wave.

When Augustana stepped on stage to play a myriad of their greatest hits, none brought the people to their feet more than Boston. It was the thirst quenching song which broke the 95 degree paralysis torturing the crowd. After all, that song is what brought so many Bostonians, myself included, out into the sweltering heat. But the mood was mellow, and for many of us college students, Augustana not only brought with it a break from the heat but also a nostalgic dip into our younger years. Those brave enough to tolerate the sun truly left with an enduring memory.

Outside the Box: Boys Like Girls

Outside the Box

When Boys Like Girls took the stage after Augastana spectacular performance the sun was beginning to set and the preteens started to appear. One girl was even fortunate enough to sing Taylor Swift’s part on stage with Martin Johnson (lead vocalist). The show was energy pact and even encouraged some of the older crowd (escorting parents) to bob their heads and lift their heels ever so slightly from the sun bleached grass. After the show, the band was even sweet enough to sign autographs for those persistent enough to wait and hope. For many it was the midweek lift they desperately needed.
